I’m an Aussie mum, my husband and I work full time and we have four kids, aged 7 to 18 years. Life is very busy. We are health conscious, we all enjoy a range of sports. We need to stay healthy and diet is a large part of that.
When you eat out, get takeaway or buy pre-packaged meals, you just don’t know what you’re getting – high fat, sugar and salt levels, preservatives and additives are usually part of the deal.
Are you sick of wondering what to cook for dinner?
Short of time after work to provide a healthy home cooked meal?
Do you throw out old vegetables (which you paid good money for) from your fridge each week?

I am working full time with 4 hungry kids + husband and I searched high and low for weekly meal plans which:
-
are healthy
-
are quick and easy to prepare
-
use ingredients which are readily available.
I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I began writing my own. I have included some red meat, chicken, vegetarian and seafood based dishes in each week’s menu. I also believe strongly in using plant based healthy oils and using low fat cooking methods wherever possible.
As I developed each week’s meal plan, I trialled it on my own family. I’ve now developed 50 weekly meal plans, that’s enough for the busiest working family for a year.
Then, listening to the conversations at work each day around cooking a week night meal, I figured that perhaps other families might also be looking for the same thing as me. So I decided to put these meal plans on a website for all to access.
Some of the things I discovered when I began to use my meal plans for my own family:
-
We always eat 5 healthy week night meals – the weekends are ours to relax the food rules a little
-
Evenings are calmer for me – I know what I’m cooking and I have all the ingredients
-
Shopping is easy – I have a pre-prepared shopping list and I only buy what I need for the week
-
I save time – both in the kitchen and the supermarket
-
We’ve started to eat more interesting ingredients that my children used to reject.
With 50 weeks of weekly menu plans, complete with a weekly shopping list, there is more variety here than I’ve seen on any other website.
There is no big financial outlay – at $2.50 or less per week, this is a time saver a working family can easily afford. I found I saved money (about $30 each week) because my grocery bill went down and I didn’t have wastage which I threw out from my fridge each week.
